Grace’s Story in her own words

Grace's life has been a long and difficult journey. Born Michael Moskowitz,
30 July , 1970 and many years younger than her siblings, came late in her
parent's lives. Having no time for such a young and emotionally needy child,
Grace's family abandoned her to a state facility for troubled boys from the
age of 8 to 12.

Many other things worked against Grace from an early age. Poverty, a hostile
home, misunderstood identity (gender dysphoria) quickly led to a childhood
drug addiction. Being bounced from a variety of ethnical foster homes and
juvenile facilities around southern Florida until the age of 19. On a fateful
night, days after turning 19, a night after a weeks long drug binge experiencing
the side affects of sleep deprivation and drug induced psychosis, she committed
the crime of killing someone else and began a life sentence that continues
after 30 years.

Spending 16 years in solitary confinement, enduring decades of physical
and sexual abuses, the power of Grace's true inner goodness quietly grew,
matured and blossomed. The courage, resilience, brilliance, and genuine
empathy for others which radiates from Grace are true signs of the
miraculous. Fighting to understand her identity and to be understood
overcoming her drug addictions, self-educating, becoming a published
writer, activist, and artist. Her passions and compassion, is a story that
has changed the lives of many people already and will surely continue to
do so.

Currently Grace is engaged in a lawsuit to have the prison system
officially recognize her identity, treat her for gender dysphoria, and
secure an easy access procedure for vulnerable prisoners in need of
real and lasting protection. The proceeds from Graces art will go
toward her living expenses pending the outcome of her lawsuit.
She has no family or financial support and the Florida prison system
don't pay their prisoners for work rendered.
